HISTORY
The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was founded on November 7, 1939 by one of India's illustrious national leaders, Kulapathi Dr. K. M. Munshi. From small beginnings, the Bhavan has grown into an all-India educational and cultural movement with 119 kendras, including centers in USA, UK, UAE, Australia, Africa, Spain, Mexico, Singapore and Portugal.
The Bhavan runs around 90 schools across India, out of which 3 are in Tamil Nadu. It upholds Indian culture, revitalizing Dharma in its threefold form of Truth, Love and Beauty – Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram.
Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram, a co-educational school, was started in 1977 at Kilpauk, Chennai. From a modest beginning, the school has grown into a prestigious institution with classes from LKG to Class 12 and a strength of 3300 students. It has consistently achieved excellence in academics and extracurricular activities including sports, dramatics, debate, elocution, arts, and national-level competitions.
